Spring Equinox Skincare Regimen
Reset, Rebalance, Renew
There’s something about this time of year that just makes you want to start fresh.
The Spring Equinox marks that shift into longer days, more light, a little more energy… and your skin feels it too. After a few months of cold weather, heavier products, and just being a little more low maintenance, this is usually when things start to feel off. A little dull, a little congested, maybe more reactive than usual.
Nothing dramatic, just not quite where you want it.
Spring is the perfect time to gently reset. Not overhaul everything, not jump into anything aggressive, just bring your skin back to a place that feels balanced again.
Because the goal isn’t perfect skin. It’s skin that’s functioning well.
What your skin actually needs right now
Coming out of winter, most skin is a little dehydrated under the surface, even if it doesn’t look dry. There can also be some buildup from heavier products or slower turnover.
This is where we want to focus on:
• hydration that feels lighter but still does its job
• gentle exfoliation to smooth things out
• keeping the skin barrier strong and supported
• and getting consistent with SPF again (yes, even on the cloudy days)
It’s really about small shifts that make a big difference.
One of my favorite ways to help reset the skin at home this time of year is with something like the Detoxifying Scrub Mask from Skinbetter Science. It gives you a combination of gentle physical exfoliation and detoxifying clay, helping to clear buildup and smooth texture without being overly aggressive on the skin.
Used occasionally, it can be a great way to refresh the skin and help your products absorb a little better.
Adjusting your routine for the season
This is usually when I recommend starting to lighten things up a bit. Not stripping your routine down, just making it more breathable.
If your products have been feeling like they’re just sitting on the skin, or your skin looks a little dull no matter what you do, that’s usually your sign.
Adding in a gentle exfoliant and making sure your skin is actually able to absorb what you’re using can go a long way.
But this is also where people tend to overdo it. More isn’t better here. If anything, it usually just leads to more irritation and sets you back.
Slow and steady really does win.
What we focus on in the treatment room
Spring is one of my favorite times to work on the skin because it’s such a good window to build momentum.
This is often when I start incorporating treatments like chemical peels, which can be incredibly helpful for improving texture, softening pigmentation, and encouraging healthy skin turnover after the slower winter months.
When done thoughtfully and customized to your skin, peels don’t have to mean aggressive downtime. They can be a really effective way to brighten the skin and create a smoother, more even foundation heading into summer.
The goal is always to support the skin, not overwhelm it.
Because once the heat, sun, and inflammation kick in, you’ll be glad you took the time to get things balanced first.
A little reminder
You don’t need to fight your skin into behaving.
Most of the time, it just needs the right kind of support and a little consistency.
Spring is a really good opportunity to simplify, reset, and get back to what actually works for you.
And if you’re feeling stuck or unsure what your skin needs right now, that’s exactly what I’m here for.
